Overall, it wasn’t the most unpleasant thing I’ve ever experienced but I will certainly do everything in my power to make it work. The gist? I will make sure my pouch stays full!
Marsupialization is the packing of the newly emptied Ranula with gauze. Not quite as cute to picture when comparing my procedure to the marsupials we are use to seeing. Kangaroos and koalas have nothing on me!
I can only take a guess by the goop they suctioned out that this was an infected gland. Most run a high rate of infection due to the nature of the mouth-born beast.
After 1 week I will be back for a follow up and hopefully the gauze protruding from my incision will keep the hole from closing up. Until then, in swoops modern medicine to help keep the open wound healthy. 4 prescriptions later (yes, I said FOUR) and big pharma once again gets the support of our physicians and their magical pad of paper.
