From the dirt to our plate; the trials and realities of first-time farm ownership

Week 1: We bought the farm…literally.

WEEK 1

As I sit here enjoying my morning up of coffee I can’t help but think of all the work yet to come.  In my first 5 days I’ve mowed about 10 acres, purchased 3 ducklings (my first farm babies), weeded and raked until my hands were sore and thinned dead growth from the raspberries until my arms were scratched and my back aching.

Each day I start with a particular intent but I easily get sidetracked due to the sheer amount of work to be completed.  I start one thing, go grab a glass of water and before you know it I’m doing something else.  I suppose it would be wise of me to stick to my list each day – it might be the only way for me to get chores fully completed!

Even as I’m overwhelmed and end each day with sore muscles, I am thankful.  I have big plans for this place and I’m so excited to share it with you all!  So, welcome to our farm follies people….we have barely begun to scratch the surface.
