There’s nothing quite like receiving FREE essential oils right before Christmas! As we get closer to the holidays, everybody is doing prize giveaways. It’s a great time of year for sure! Fortunately for me, I was a lucky winner of a Simply Earth Essential Oil Recipe Box and I couldn’t wait to get my hands on it.
I’ve tried all types of essential oils. From the expensive, ultra pure ones to the ones you’d probably be better off dumping in a homemade candle (if that). I do believe in most cases, you get what you pay for. Because oils absorb through the skin or if diffused, through the nose and lungs, you need to know what you are getting. Additives can seriously damage and dilute an otherwise decent product.
With Simply Earth, purity is guaranteed and the products are GC/MS tested. They care that their products are exactly what you expect them to be.
The bonus? 13% of their profits go to help stop human trafficking. They are truly out to change the world and are taking on a cause that is running rampant all over the world. Simply put, Simply Earth is a great product with a great message.
THE BOX
Even though my box appeared a little crunched I wasn’t too concerned. I didn’t immediately smell or detect any leakage so it was easy to assume all was good.
The December 2017 recipe box was packed full of goodies and I was quite surprised to see everything that was included. For a subscription box that generally retails for $40, Simply Earth didn’t skimp or short change me on anything.
Here’s the rundown of the December 2017 Simply Earth Essential Oil Recipe Box contents:
- 1-15ml Cinnamon Essential Oil
- 1-15ml Pine Essential Oil
- 1-15ml Fir Needle Essential Oil
- 1-15ml Peppermint Essential Oil
- 2-5ml Empty Glass Bottles w/ Dropper Insert
- 1-4 Fl oz Bottle of Almond Carrier Oil
- 1-Empty Lip Scrub Container
- 1-Bath Bomb Mold
- 3 Labels for Lip Scrub, Candy Cane Diffuser Blend & Ginger Bread Diffuser Blend
- Recipe Cards to make Gingerbread House Diffuser Blend, Rudolf’s Pine Cone Home Freshener, Peppermint Lip Scrub, Candy Cane Diffuser Blend & Santa’s Bath Bomb Recipe
Pretty impressive right?! Personally, I wasn’t expecting such a great value at that price point. I was so happy to see the bath bomb mold I think it both shocked and thrilled me. I have wanted to try my hand at bath bombs for some time…and now, I had the chance!
WHAT I LOOK FOR
As a well versed essential oil guru I turned a critical eye towards a few things I watch for. When buying an oil you want to make sure they come in glass bottles to avoid the chance that plastic could contaminate the essential oil. Simply Earth already understands this. Every essential oil bottle was glass – even the empty diffuser blend bottles.
I also pay close attention to the recommended usage listed on the box or the bottle label. The reason I do this is because some would assume that oils such as Peppermint or Cinnamon are edible. In some cases and for some brands, they are. However, Simply Earth labels note that these products are for external use only. Even the usage recommendations are for topical application or dispersal via a diffuser.
The third thing I look for are detailed directions for use or a link to find the information. This is ultra important in the case of Cinnamon and Peppermint essential oils. As they are hot oils, you must ALWAYS use them with a carrier oil. Simply Earth for the most part, plays it safe and recommends a carrier oil for all topical applications of essential oils. So, that makes me happy.
SUMMARY & PROMO CODES
All things considered, Simply Earth has some great products and the Recipe Box showcases them perfectly. The price is reasonable and you can easily change how often you wish to receive the box when you subscribe. Heck, you can even cancel anytime if that is what you desire.
If you are looking to try essential oils for the first time and you have an interest in DIY creations, this is the box for you! I found a couple of great promos you can try when you sign up for a Simply Earth Recipe Box. SIMPLYFREE will give you a surprise free oil when you receive your shipment. FREEGIFTCARD will give you a $40 gift card for future use…that’s the equivalent of a free Recipe Box!
On a more personal note, try a little of the Fir Needle or Pine essential oil on a clay ornament, piece of felt or cotton ribbon. Hang it in your Christmas tree to diffuse the scent of the pine forest…or a Christmas tree lot! Ha!
