Okay, so I knew the $5 Beauty Box from Walmart was going to be a crap shoot. In 2015 I had also received the box and ended up canceling my subscription because it didn’t seem like I was truly getting items I’d use. Granted, I did receive some good coupons as well as a few things I hadn’t expected and loved. SO, I really can’t (or shouldn’t) bad mouth this inexpensive, seasonal box.
All in all, for $5, you get what you pay for and in some seasons…you get even more. In the past I have received coupons for free full-sized products. This month however, the contents were pretty indicative of an average Walmart Beauty Box.
WHAT WAS IN THE BOX
- Hask Argan Oil Repairing Deep Conditioner
- Jergens Wet Skin Moisturizer
- Found Pore Care Charcoal Sheet Mask
- Olay Luminous Tone Perfecting Cream
- Dove gofresh Rejuvenate Body Wash
- TRESemme Hair Spray
I am going to start off being critical. My Winter 2017 box contained 2 items I had already received in my Summer 2017 box. Both the Dove body wash (the same pear scent) and the TRESemme hairspray were already in my travel stockpile from last time. I hate to say it, but I was really bummed! In my previous subscription I NEVER received duplicates season after season. You can bet that I will be sending my ratings and review of this box to Walmart.
On the positive side of things, I did receive a few very attractive samples that I’m itching to try. The Jergens Wet Skin Moisturizer and the Hask Argan Oil Hair Conditioner will be a welcome treat for my dry winter skin and staticky hair. Unfortunately, the charcoal mask is meant to absorb oil which is not good for my flaky face. I’ll have to save that one for summertime use.
On the packaging side of things, Walmart is really stepping up their game. The fancy sheet paper and box make their Beauty Box more feminine and “special”. The samples do come in generous sizes and are handy if you are a frequent traveler.
