I’m starting Day 1 of my Paleo Journey today folks! My parents have left from their visit which makes it much easier to plan and put into action phase II of my weight loss goal.
Over the last 3 weeks I have eaten ice cream, pizza, crackers, bread, sweet cereals, candy and yes…fruit. As mentioned in my previous diet update, this was not the proper way to transition from Keto to Paleo! However, I must admit, I have secretly enjoyed it.
While I am a bit more aware of carbohydrates I have still chosen to indulge. All in all, I have been very lucky not gaining much weight back but the bloating makes me feel as big as I was at the start of my Keto Journey. On top of that, I’m once again having painful cramping in instances where I eat high fats when the bulk of my diet has been carbohydrate laden. Not a fan. Ironically, I had NO issues while eating the high fat, low carb, Keto Diet.
So what does this mean? Well, it means I need to make better choices.
Starting off, today’s morning breakfast has consisted of my usual coffee with almond milk and stevia sweetener. Add to that a banana and a brain not thinking about the carb count and you end up with approximately 27g of carbs I’ll be deducting from my set limit of 75-125 grams daily carbohydrate allowance. Doh!
Yes, my breakfast choice could have been worse but I’d much prefer to start my day out with something that doesn’t prime the energy pump to consume carbohydrates. Tomorrow, my goal is to focus on protein and healthy fats, I’m already looking forward to that omelette!
I’m just glad some of the garden produce has started to trickle in. Spinach, radishes and cilantro lead off the spring harvest with plenty more to come. Fresh, chemical-free veggies will make eating Paleo much more convenient. Until peak harvest hits, I see a few visits to the local grocery store in my future – at least for the next few weeks.
Cheers everyone! Here’s to being more aware of what I’m putting into my body and losing that last 9 pounds!
